World Wetland Day 2010 Events around Australia
An artistic celebration with a word of warning for World Wetlands Day
- Over six hundred and fifty creative Australians celebrated World Wetlands Day on 2 February, in the International Year of Biodiversity, 2010 by expressing their passion and concern for Australia’s magnificent wetlands through art. Each year the WetlandCare Australia National Art and Photography competition provides a growing number of unique Australians with the opportunity to convey a message about the environment in which they live. This year’s competition theme was Wetlands, Biodiversity and Climate Change. All winning works are now on exhibition at the CSIRO Discovery Centre in Canberra until Friday February 12th.

2010 WA Wetland Management Conference
- The 6th annual WA Wetland Management Conference will be held at the Cockburn Wetlands Education Centre, 184 Hope Road, Bibra Lake WA 6163 on 2 February 2010, 9am to 4pm.
- Why? - To provide an annual opportunity for the exchange of information and ideas between wetland practitioners with a focus on the latest developments about how to effectively manage and restore wetlands.
- Who should attend? - Past conferences have brought together 160 people including community conservation volunteers, landowners, local and State Government officers, students and academics, political representatives and private sector environmental officers involved with wetland management.
- This year's theme? - Follows the Ramsar theme for 2010 of ‘Caring for wetlands – an answer to climate change’. The theme relates to 2010 being proclaimed the International Year of Biodiversity and to the impacts of climate change for present and future wetland ecosystem health. Sub-themes include wetland management and restoration, wetland education and wetland policy.
- Cost? $50 per person ($20 concessional) includes confernce, refreshments and proceedings.

Emu Park World Wetland Day event

- To mark the anniversary of the Ramsar convention to protect wetlands, Fitzroy Basin Association is joining forces with Bushcare, Landcare, Rockhampton Regional Council, and Fitzroy Basin Elders Committee to host this event for World Wetlands Day.
